What is CalFresh?

CalFresh is the name of California’s federal Food Stamp Program administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, in most other states).

A monthly electronic benefit card is issued to CalFresh recipients which can be used to purchase food at many markets, food stores and farmer’s markets. It takes less than five minutes to see if someone qualifies and just 30 minutes for a confidential appointment to complete an application.
